Some stories begin with fireworks. Ours began with superheroes… and a theme park on the Gold Coast.

We were two Sydney-siders on separate family holidays, meeting up with mutual friends for a day at Movie World. Somewhere between the rollercoasters and the cartoon characters, she stood there—and something in him said, “That’s the one.” She, on the other hand… did not fall head over heels on the spot.

We like to say it took her two and a half years and a wedding to catch up.

For a while, we were just acquaintances orbiting the same circle of friends. But then came that wedding—the kind of night where the music is warm, the lights are soft, and people see each other with new eyes. She looked at him, and something shifted. He looked at her, and everything he'd already known had finally found its moment. Then—he “slid into the DMs,” with a Nacho Libre meme lol and from then on, we were… well, us.

Those first months felt like the soft beginning of a movie: long conversations, city wanderings, beach sunsets, meals we absolutely didn’t need but enjoyed anyway, and a kind of wonder that came from realising we were each other’s firsts in so many beautiful ways. Dating became this new adventure—not because of where we went, but because of who we’d found.

Our journey hasn’t just been built on romance and fun (though we’ve had plenty). It’s also been shaped by the ways we’ve grown—new jobs, new studies, new homes, and learning to build our life under His guiding Hand. Through every change, every challenge, and every moment of joy, we learned what it meant to choose each other, again and again.

We’re opposites in the way that just works. She is the organised, overachieving, fast-moving, colour-coded-calendar kind of person. He is the “it’ll all fall into place, let’s enjoy the moment” kind. Together, somehow, we land perfectly in the middle—steady, balanced, fully ourselves, and fully each other’s person.

Our story started with a chance meeting at a theme park, wandered through years of friendship, and finally unfolded into the love we were always meant to arrive at. And now, with hearts full and hands held tight, we’re stepping into the next chapter—grateful for every moment that brought us here, and excited for every moment still to come.
